Cigar Regulations – In 2016 (August) the FDA started regulating certain tobacco products that weren’t previously in their purview – cigars being one. Now that they are regulated, in order to be on the market, the FDA requires manufacturers to go through a lengthy approval process for any cigars made after 2007 (this includes us here at Martinez). I think you know that the variety of cigars on the market each year are part of the appeal. At least 10,000 new cigars hit each year. If this FDA standard stays, the amount of cigars available will decrease drastically, not only to the dissatisfaction of you our consumers, but to the detriment of the owners of cigar retailers like us and lounges that we support.
The Cigar Association of America looking for your help to reach out to Sen. Schumer to change that “lookback date” from 2007 to 2016 when they actually started regulating the product! It is really easy — If you wouldn’t mind helping them out – all you have to do is click the link pasted here – and enter your address – then it will bring up a pre-drafted email which you can edit (if you like) and then send along to the Senator. http://cigarassociation.org/ take-action
